Abstract

Manpower development denotes a process of education and training through which human resources available are enable to acquire skills for optimal performance and subsequent improved productivity. As a process, such recurrent form of education and training could be at the instance of governments, employers of labour or associations or still at the discretion of individual workers who perceive the need for further training in order to be relevant in the society. This paper therefore discusses adult education, forms of adult education, objectives and roles of adult education to human resource development. The paper further discusses the concept of vocational and technical education capturing the challenges facing vocational and technical education. The paper concludes that skill acquired in non-formal education centres enhances securing employment.
