Abstract
The study investigated strategic metrics for assessing diversity, equity, and inclusion in political appointments in Nigeria. The study was mainly anchored on the intersectionality Framework and the representative bureaucracy theories. The library research design, which centres on gathering and collating secondary and archival sources like books, journals, articles, gazettes, publications, digital and online materials, was adopted for this study. Detailed discussions of the objectives and key aspects of the subject matter helped in bringing to light critical findings of the study, which revealed that the absence of committed leadership, weak and ineffective institutions are major factors hindering the application of strategic metrics to assessing equity, diversity, and inclusion in Nigeria's political appointments. It was also found that application of the equity ratio, ensuring inclusiveness with sincerity of purpose as well as maximizing the creativity that is inherent in diversity, is germane to engendering equitable distribution of political appointments in Nigeria. It was therefore recommended that strategic leadership built on strong and effective institutions, capable of establishing meritocracy, and encouraging even political participation in Nigeria, should be on the ground.
