Author Guidelines

Guidelines for Contributors
Submissions should be done electronically by e-mail attachment to: editor.jjollac@gmail.com.Receipt of submissions will be acknowledged by e-mail. Authors should submit along with the manuscript, but separately, the name(s) of the author(s) in the form in which they wish them to appear under the title of the article, current institution, mailing address, e-mail address and a contact telephone number. Manuscripts should be in MS-Word, typed in Times New Roman 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing, and should not exceed 5000 words (including endnotes and references). Manuscripts that exceed 5000 words may be acceptable depending on the content and the decision of the Board. Sections in manuscripts should include Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Data Analysis and Conclusion. All manuscripts should have an abstract (100-200 words) with relevant keywords (minimum of 3 and maximum of 6). Authors may translate their abstract into any one language of their choice whose readership they want to attract, including Nigerian languages. The referencing style should be the latest edition of the APA style (currently the 7th edition). Very importantly, authors must ensure that their papers are read by a professional proof-reader before submission. A handling charge is required along with each submission. Upon peer review and acceptance, a publication fee will be required.
Formatting Guidelines
Paragraphs. The beginning of a paragraph should be indicated by tab indentation of 1.0 cm and there should be no line gap for a new paragraph. However, the first paragraph under a section or sub-section heading should not be indented.
Numbering system. Data examples, tables, figures, and rules should each have a separate numbering system. Tables, figures, etc. should be placed at the appropriate place within the text.
Numbering of examples. Data examples should be numbered consecutively and should be backspaced to the margin.
Alignment of examples. All data examples should be aligned correctly with the literal ‘morpheme-by-morpheme’ gloss, using tabs.
Section numbering should start with 1 for the Introduction, and proceed to 2, 3, etc. for main sections, 2.1, 2.2, etc. for subsections, and 2.1.1, 2.1.2, etc. for sub-sub-sections. Numbering of subsections should not go beyond three figures. All headings should start at the left margin and should be in bold type.
Capitalization. Main sections should be rendered in title case while sub-sections and sub-sub-sections should be rendered in sentence case.
Endnotes (not footnotes) may be used. These should be numbered automatically and should precede References.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
