About the Journal

The Jos Journal of Social Issues (JJSI) is a multidisciplinary academic journal of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Jos, Jos, Nigeria that publishes well-researched articles on a wide range of social issues and sociological problems from diverse academic fields especially the social sciences and humanities.

The JJSI encourages submission of well-researched manuscripts from various theoretical and methodological orientations in order to broaden cross-disciplinary discourses on a wide range of traditional and evolving social issues confronting modern societies especially in Africa. Such issues include but are not limited to crime and deviance, conflict, violence, and insecurity, internal displacement, migration, substance abuse, poverty, unemployment, inequality and environmental problems.

Since its inception in 1976, the JJSI has stood the test of time and has remained effective, impactful, successful and widely read within Nigeria and across the globe as well. The editors of the JJSI have diligently been ensuring that its publication is sustained and the high standard, quality and impact of a good journal. The Journal last published in August 2024 and is in the process of publishing its current volume (Vol. 16 No.1).
